Dawson County Development Authority Announces Plans for New Business Park

Dawsonville, GA (August 15, 2025) – The Dawson County Development Authority (DADC) today announced its plans to develop a new business park, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering economic growth and attracting new businesses to the region.

This project reflects Dawson County's ongoing commitment to expanding its economic base, creating diverse employment opportunities, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its citizens. Situated along Georgia's Technology Corridor (GA-400) and just 50 miles from downtown Atlanta, Dawson County is experiencing rapid growth, presenting a prime location for strategic business expansion. The Development Authority works collaboratively with the Dawson County Board of Commissioners, the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Dawsonville, and other partners to streamline the process for businesses seeking to establish or expand their operations in the county.

DADC 2025 Board Chair, Jere Allen, stated that "This new business park marks a significant step forward in the mission to enrich local employment, improve the tax base, and increase business opportunities throughout Dawson County". It is being made possible by the vision of the Dawson County Board of Commissioners in entrusting the DADC with a tract of property that has been county-owned since 2004, but has never been put into use. Allen added that "With this project, our board’s vision is to attract businesses centered around clean manufacturing and advanced technologies. “We want to bring the types of industries that create well-paying jobs and add generational opportunities for years to come."

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was executed by the Dawson County Board of Commissioners and the Development Authority, deeding the 77.67-acre parcels to the DADC in the voting session on August 07,2025. The Authority has applied for federal and local grants to help fund the infrastructure required for development. The MOU is available to the public for specific details regarding the agreement between the BOC and the DADC.

The tracts of land are located at Burt Creek Rd with map and parcel number descriptions 082 006 001 and 092 001 001. Further details regarding the project timeline, target industries, and potential job creation will be released by the DADC in the coming months.
