Dawson County Appoints Joey Leverette to County Manager Role
On Thursday, May 18, the Dawson County Board of Commissioners appointed Joey Leverette to serve as County Manager for Dawson County. Leverette previously served as the Executive Director for the Macon Water Authority and as a Director of Gainesville Regional Utilities in Gainesville, Fla. He brings more than 27 years of management experience in the areas of water, wastewater management, public works and public service. His leadership skills include strategic planning, operations, budgeting, asset management and communication.
Leverette holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Georgia College & State University and a BA from the University of Georgia.
“Dawson County is a beautiful area that is full of potential. I am honored to become part of the leadership here that has shown its dedication to making Dawson County a wonderful place to live and work. I look forward to working with our outstanding Board of Commissioners that have a heart for this community,” said Leverette.
Chairman Billy Thurmond introduced Leverette during the Board of Commissioners meeting on May 18, when Leverette was appointed county manager by a unanimous vote.
“On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, we want to welcome Mr. Joey Leverette to Dawson County as our new County Manager,” said Thurmond. “Mr. Leverette brings a wealth of leadership knowledge that will allow him to assist us in moving Dawson County forward in a positive manner. His attitude and work ethic will allow him to immediately blend in with our citizens.”
The County Manager is responsible for general administration of county departments, services, departments and other initiatives under the guidance of the Board of Commissioners, and implements goals and policies that have been passed.
